How Booking.com is creating the connected trip

Working on API v3 once again

Booking.com is a household name when it comes to booking a place to stay – whether that be a hotel, apartment or bed and breakfast. Now we’re working to become a one-stop solution for all travel-related needs, from package trips to flights and attractions, and beyond. This offers travellers what we like to call the ‘connected trip’ – enabling them to book every aspect of their travel experience seamlessly through our familiar, easy-to-use website or mobile app.

Beyond accommodations

As one of the most trusted names in the travel industry, we’re well positioned to expand beyond accommodations into all areas of travel planning, enabling our customers to do more without having to go to multiple sites or service providers.

The transition towards the ‘connected trip’ is already happening. Besides accommodations, we already offer travellers convenient options for booking ground transportation and car rentals directly through our website and mobile app, as well as cruises and other travel-related services. In April 2018, we made headlines by acquiring FareHarbor to further scale our travel and activity planning capabilities.

Booking.com teams up with Grab

As of January 2020,  Booking.com customers can request a ride from Grab – the  Southeast-Asian ride-hailing service – directly through our mobile app. This gives travellers the comfort of knowing they can always get a ride at the push of a button.

Grab is headquartered in Singapore and currently offers its ride-hailing service in eight countries throughout Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.

Tailor-made trips powered by predictive technologies

With smart, data-powered predictive technologies, we will offer services based on travellers’ preferences and past choices. For example, we can identify a customer’s travel plans and offer other useful services for their trip, such as rental cars, dining reservations, tickets to attractions and shuttle services. Ultimately, travellers booking their trips via Booking.com can look forward to a personalised, AI-enhanced and truly connected booking experience.
